Isn't it enough that someone else might love doing the same thing?
We all have the right to express ourselves through what brings us complete joy. Sometimes we become so proficient at it that it shows great promise that can last a lifetime.
When competition comes onto the playing field, intolerance and judgement find their way into what once was pure and harmonious for us, then it becomes poisonous.
For instance I feel the vibration of competition while in the yoga studio. This is not the kind of competition that one challenger attempts to beat another, this vibration that I sense is more from a place of envy. We see the man or woman next to us in a class having their private moment in a group setting and we immediately compare ourselves to them, we want to be like them in a way and then we loose touch with our own practice. Then what is the point of your practice? To feed your ego with all kinds of crap? When these comparisons are drawn we go into conflict mode, we notice how much better we are than they or vice versa and on and on....Why not just love what you do and do what you love. Can that be enough?
But of course not...We have a hard time being present, grounded in our bodies and feeling our experience moment to moment. We habituate in our heads with intolerant stories of how this or that should not exist and only you have the right.
Forget being right people BE FREE!!
I personally love to play music, sing sacred songs for my communities. That is enough for me.
And yet I get met with indifference people playing small and not wanting to collaborate and celebrate our mutual affinities for what we love to do so much. Opportunities missed, in the form of respect and friendship.
As a musician I fully understand, there is a territorial nature to us.
We feel there is only so much pie to divide.
I've played small, I've been on this side of fear and wanting to control something I have no control of.
From this I realized that no one wins, especially my true arts existence.
This energy wasted in false concepts and perceptions and stories can be channeled into more time, energy and focus into my craft.
You are enough in what you love to do.
Don't let anyone drag your spirit down into their abyss of unhappiness.
Take the high road and keep doing what you love to do, do it more often and get better and better at whatever it may be. Let it be enough, stay in your lane, celebrate others in their expression along the way and you may even make a few friends doing this.
So with all this said, may the good Sun shine upon you and all Love surround you.
Sincerely,
Joaquin
